Sydney is blessed with a beautiful climate and its people especially enjoy an outdoors lifestyle. If you visit Sydney in the long spring and summer months, you will notice how people live outside in parks, on beaches and outdoor cafes. As part of that lifestyle, Sydneysiders often enjoy a weekend visit to local markets. There is plenty to choose from, depending on your interests, and I have the ultimate Sydney markets guide.

Sydney Markets Guide: Bondi Markets
After fourteen years in Sydney, I realised I’d never visited the Bondi Markets. So I took myself over the bridge and I was very pleasantly surprised. Bondi Beach has a unique charm and the markets did not disappoint, with a great selection of handmade jewellery, artwork and beach-related items. For some reason, I always feel that visiting the Eastern Suburbs is like a holiday and Bondi Beach fully deserves a spot on my Sydney markets guide.
The atmosphere at Bondi Markets is very relaxed and it’s a great attraction to add to your visit to Bondi Beach. There are plenty of handmade wares: jewellery, beach towels, clothing, handbags…
There are some great up and coming jewellery stalls such as Oshka Black at Bondi Markets, where you can pick up a souvenir of your visit to Bondi Beach.
Bondi Markets are held at the Bondi Beach Public School and are open on Saturday. Traffic in and out of Bondi Beach can be a nightmare so I would recommend taking public transport. Make it part of your day at the beach and if you are there in October-November, you may also include a visit to Sculpture by the Sea.
Sydney Markets Guide: Glebe Markets
Glebe Markets is a great place to shop for casual and vintage fashion. They have a great selection of leather goods and are located in a busy Sydney neighbourhood. Glebe Point Road has plenty of cafes to enjoy a relaxing brunch after a little shopping. I really enjoy meeting Bohemian Buds, it was so refreshing seeing such creative flower arrangements!
Glebe Markets are open on Saturday mornings. Again, they mostly rely on off-street parking so I would recommend not leaving it too late in the morning.
Sydney Markets Guide: Paddington Markets
Paddington Markets is located on the grounds of the Paddington Uniting Church in one of Sydney’s prettiest suburbs. There is a great selection of handmade goods, such as jewellery, clothing and handbags.
Paddington Markets open on Saturday mornings. Finish with a stroll around the neighbourhood to admire the beautiful Victorian houses.
Sydney Markets Guide: Round She Goes
Round She Goes is a less regular occurrence but if you are serious about vintage shopping, this is the place to be. It requires a trip to Marrickville on a Saturday but is well worth a visit. Check the website for their next market.
Sydney Markets Guide: The Rocks Market
Situated in Sydney’s first settlement, the Rocks Markets is a great place to visit when touring the “Old Town”. The Rocks is a great neighbourhood, full of history and landmarks. The market is in the shadow of the Harbour Bridge and offers a great range of handmade artwork and souvenirs. From Friday to Sunday, you can sample various foods and take a break at one of the cafes nearby. If you are around the harbour and busy taking some great photos, it’s absolutely worth walking across Circular Quay to visit the market. After that, take a stroll in the streets of old Sydney and maybe visit the Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout.
Sydney Markets Guide: The Finders Keepers
The Finders Keepers Market occurs twice a year and gathers carefully selected makers. Indeed, this market offers a fantastic selection of homewares and gifts of all kinds.
Sydney Markets Guide: The Beaches Market
Located in Sydney’s North, the Beaches Market is a relaxed and family-orientated Friday event, with a plethora of organic foods and wares. It’s a perfect addition to a day at the beach. And don’t forget to go to the beautiful Northern Beaches while you’re there!
Visiting a market is free so add at least one to your list of free and outdoor things to do in Sydney.
