new zealand south island travel advice

The South Island of New Zealand is definitely the wilder and quieter of the two islands and my favourite. I discovered Queenstown and the Alps several years ago and I keep going back. The South Island is the perfect destination for a road trip and many adventures: bungee jumping, kayaking, sky diving and helicopter tours are some of the best things to do in New Zealand. I also recommend hiking in New Zealand and visiting some of the beautiful New Zealand lakes: Lake Tekapo, Lake Wanaka and Lake Pukaki. Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and the West Coast should also feature on your itinerary. If you love the mountains, don’t miss a trip to Fox Glacier and Franz Josef for a helicopter tour of the glaciers. If all you have is a weekend away, Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula are only an hour from Christchurch and perfect for a relaxed getaway.
