Twelve Handmade Things to Buy at the Finders Keepers Markets

Sharing is caring!

I love a good market, and I love anything handmade. To me, an object is so much more genuine and valuable when it has a background, a story. I love the way contemporary artisans are exploring textures and upcycling existing objects. Also, I always feel like I’m touching something unique, something carefully designed, that has caused sweat and tears, and also immense joy to the artisan. This morning, a notification popped up on my Instagram feed and what do I learn? The Finders Keepers Markets are on this Mother’s Day weekend and so-disorganised-me nearly missed it ! A quick decision later, I am on the ferry and off to Barangaroo ! I have a selection of twelve handmade things to buy at the Finders Keepers Market for you to do some last minute shopping !

Leather Journals and Wooden Spoons at Uscha

No matter how digitally connected we are, you can’t replace the intimate sensation of writing on paper. Uscha has a cool selection of homewares, wooden spoons, leather journals and bags.

    1. Hi Justine, thank you for your comments, I love markets too. There is plenty to see at the Finders Keepers Markets, and the terrariums were great!

  1. There are so many good finds!!! I love all of them but most especially the soap products and everything else from the terraniums down! I am going to have to see if there are similar markets up here in Brisbane.

  2. This looks amazing, I wish it was on my continent!! Just another place to put on my bucket list I suppose 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Hi Nicole, handmade markets are really popular, which is really good. I’m really over buying cheap stuff made in China, I much prefer buy something that has a story behind it and is made with love.

        1. Samantha, these makers are based in Australia but some of them might ship to the UK. Otherwise I’m sure you can find handmade markets in the UK a well !

  3. Oh this would be a great place to browse for Christmas presents! We have the Finders Keepers markets here in Brisbane, but I’ve never been yet, I really should!

    1. Hi Mica, the Finders Keepers visit most capital cities in the lead up to Christmas. You should definitely check it out for your Christmas shopping, I’m sure there’s some cool handmade fashion !

  4. This is a great list, especially as we get closer to the holiday season. I love buying homemade jewelry, soaps, an wooden spoons!

    1. Hi Kim, the Finders Keepers is a great concept: small makers get to showcase their wares to a large audience. It’s a great market for Christmas especially. I hope you get a chance to find something like this near you!
